Summary
Each page of a Laserfiche document can consist of a TIFF image file and an associated TXT text file. These files are stored in the regular Windows file system in the path designated for the appropriate volume. Each volume folder is further divided into subfolders in the format, PathToVolume\xx\yy\zz.
The image and text files are stored in the lowest subfolder. Each lowest subfolder can hold up to 256 pages. A page can consist of an image file, a text file, or both. Folders are named in hexadecimal starting from 00\00\00. When a subfolder fills up with 256 pages, a counter is incremented by one and a new subfolder is automatically created. For example, when the 00\00\00 subfolder becomes full, the next page will be stored in 00\00\01.
More Information
Electronic documents are stored in a folder branch separate from the image and text files: PathToVolume\exx\yy\zz.
Note: How the Laserfiche volume structure is stored on the file system is fundamentally unchanged in Laserfiche versions 5, 6, and 7. However, Laserfiche 5 volumes can contain additional files other than the image and text files: LFT and ANN files. These files store thumbnail information and annotations, respectively. In Laserfiche 6 and Laserfiche 7, thumbnail information and annotations are stored directly in the SQL database.
