Performing OCR in a Non-English Language Produces Unintelligible Text.

August 6, 2014 | KB: 1000905
Laserfiche 7, Quick Fields 7

Summary

OCR can be configured to recognize text written in a variety of languages. If OCR is configured to recognize text in a language other than English and the OCR process is performed on an image containing non-English words, then the resulting text may be unintelligible.

Cause

The OCR process is still using the English code page.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in Laserfiche 7.0.3 and later. Please upgrade to the latest version of Laserfiche.

Workaround

There is a hotfix for Laserfiche 7.0.2 and Quick Fields 7.1. The fix is an updated LFIrisCom.dll and LFIrisZoneOCR.dll.

To update the IRIS Laserfiche interface

  1. Click here to download a zip file containing the updated files.
  2. Replace the LFIrisCom.dll and LFIrisZoneOCR.dll found in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor\LFIris folder with the ones found in the zip file.
