Modifying the Sender Name on Notification E-mails.

February 25, 2005 | KB: 1000898
Agenda Manager 7.0, Workflow Suite 7.0

Summary

By default, notification e-mails sent by Agenda Manager 7.0 or Workflow Suite 7.0 will have a sender name that looks similar to the following:

Laserfiche_Work_Distribution [null] <null>

Certain mail servers will not accept messages that contain null return addresses. While there is no user interface exposed to directly edit the null values, you can manually edit a registry value to change the sender name.

Resolution

Configure the sender name for notification e-mails by creating the AdministratorEmail string value under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Laserfiche\WorkflowSuite registry key.

Please be aware that modifying this value does not remove the "Laserfiche_Work_Distribution" portion of the sender name. The specified string value replaces the default null values.

Note: This value is shared by both Workflow Suite 7.0 and Agenda Manager 7.0.

Warning: Incorrectly editing the registry may adversely affect your system. Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if a problem occurs.

To create the AdministratorEmail string value

  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and then click OK to load the Windows Registry Editor tool.

    regedt32

  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  4. Expand SOFTWARE.
  5. Expand Laserfiche.
  6. Select WorkflowSuite.
  7. From the Edit menu, point to New and click String Value.
  8. Name the string value:

    AdministratorEmail

  9. Double-click the newly created value and set it to what you want displayed as part of the sender name on all notification e-mails.
