Summary

When you use the Laserfiche Administration Console to register a Laserfiche Server, you may receive the following error message:

Remote calls are not allowed for this process (-2147417828)

Cause

Laserfiche makes use of DCOM for communication. If DCOM is not enabled, Laserfiche will be unable to function.

Resolution

Make sure DCOM is enabled on both the computer you are working from and the computer hosting the Laserfiche Server.

To enable DCOM

1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
3. Double-click Component Services.
4. Expand Component Services.
5. Expand Computers.
6. Select My Computer.
7. From the Action menu, click Properties.
8. In the My Computer Properties dialog box, click the Default Properties tab.
9. Select the Enable Distributed COM on this computer check box and then click OK.
10. You may have to restart you computer.
