Laserfiche 6.1, Laserfiche 7

Summary

There is a utility that allows you to convert a Laserfiche volume (version 7) for use with Laserfiche 6.1. Once a volume has been converted, it can be attached to a repository hosted on a Laserfiche Server 6.1x.

To convert a Laserfiche volume

  1. From the Laserfiche Administration Console, export a volume from a Laserfiche repository (version 7).
  2. Click here to download the Laserfiche Volume Conversion utility from the Laserfiche FTP site.
  3. Unzip the file to a desired location.
  4. Double-click LF7toLF6VolConverter.exe to load the utility.
  5. Click Browse to select the path where the XML files generated for your exported Laserfiche volume (version 7) reside.
  6. Click OK to convert the volume.
  7. Use the Laserfiche Client 6 to attach the volume.

The conversion utility renames the source volume XML files to LFVol7backup-1.xml and LFVolDefs7backup-1.xml and creates a new LFVol.xml file.

More Information

If your source Laserfiche volume (version 7) contains a template with a field name that contains a right square bracket, then documents in the converted volume associated with that template will not have field data. Additionally, that template will be corrupted and cannot be deleted from the repository. It is therefore highly recommended that you make sure that volumes that will be converted do not contain template or field names that use a right square bracket.
