Summary

This article documents known issues with Laserfiche WebLink 6.16.

More Information

WebLink Known Issues

  • WebLink does not enforce the Search feature right. Users without the Search feature right will still be able to perform searches in WebLink. (10257)
  • Attempting to view a document stored on a removable volume that has not been mounted will not cause WebLink to report the name of the volume that needs to be mounted. (12662)
  • A name search cannot be performed without wildcards for an item whose name contains a quotation mark. If you would like to search for such an item, then you should use a ? or an * in place of each quotation mark. For example, to search for a document called John "Bullet" Smith, you would search for the following: John ?Bullet? Smith. (11837)
  • The Zoom feature does not behave correctly when the time on the web server is significantly ahead of the time set on the client machine. (10673)
  • Under certain circumstances, logging back into WebLink after your session has expired will not properly display the image or text that you had been previously viewing. (7396)
  • Closing the Fields, Sticky Notes, or Thumbnails pane while viewing a PDF version of a document will display the original image in place of the PDF. (7327)
  • When using Boolean operators to specify search criteria, you should only use "AND", "OR", "NOT", and "WITHIN" when performing simple full-text searches. If you plan on using the advanced search syntax, you should not use "AND", "OR", "NOT", or "WITHIN". Instead, you should use their symbol equivalent: &, |, -, and ^, respectively.(6043)
  • This version of Laserfiche WebLink does not support Laserfiche COLDLink. If you would like to use Laserfiche COLDLink, then you should use Laserfiche WebLink version 6.1.
  • If your HTTP (web) Server currently supports multiple port assignments, you must include the correct port assignment in the WebLink URL. For example, http://YourServerName:81 /WebLink/
  • When using a version of the Laserfiche Server prior to 5.02, WebLink will display a list field as an edit box instead of a combo box. To resolve this issue, the Laserfiche Server must be upgraded to version 5.03 or higher.
  • The advanced search syntax allows a user to perform searches that are currently not supported. A folder search will not allow you to view the contents of the folder. Performing a search that looks for field values or a phrase may not allow you to view certain results or it may produce incorrect results.
  • A generic Windows icon is used to identify electronic documents in the Search Results window. (2907)
  • Certain error messages are displayed in Hex format.
  • When using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 to view a document as a PDF, the Acrobat viewer may be launched, but the document will not be displayed. Disabling Adobe Acrobat Reader's integration with the Internet Explorer browser will fix this problem. To disable Adobe Acrobat Reader's web integration follow these steps:
    1. Exit from Internet Explorer.
    2. Start the Acrobat 4.0x viewer.
    3. From the File menu, point to Preferences, and then select General.
    4. Deselect Web Browser Integration in the Options section and then click OK.
    5. Exit from the Acrobat 4.0x viewer.
    6. Restart Internet Explorer.
  • By default, Laserfiche WebLink is configured to limit PDF downloads to 75 pages. This limit can be changed from Settings.inc by modifying the value to which PDF_LIMIT is set. When configuring the PDF download limit, you should keep in mind that WebLink has a total PDF download limit of 275 pages. If a document contains more than 275 pages and you wish to download the document in PDF format, then you must download the PDF version of the document in portions until you have the complete document. Each portion should contain less pages than the PDF limit or 275 pages (whichever is smaller). (2997)

Note: The constant PDF_LIMIT (configured in Settings.inc) should not exceed 275. Setting PDF_LIMIT past this limit may cause the Laserfiche Server to become unstable.

  • Enabling the HTTP 1.1 option on Internet Explorer 4.x may significantly delay the display of WebLink GIF files. This is due to a bug in IE 4.x. Solutions are: a) turn off HTTP 1.1 in IE 4.x; b) downgrade to IE 3; or c) upgrade to IE 5.
