Importing a Legacy Briefcase May Create a Duplicate Index Card Template.

March 12, 2004 | KB: 100076
Laserfiche 6, Plus 6

Summary

An index card template containing list fields cannot be merged into an identical index card template when importing a version 5 briefcase into a network database.

Resolution

Install LaserFiche Client, Desktop, Executive, Intuition, Notebook, or Plus version 6.03 or higher.
Additionally, install LaserFiche Server version 6.03 or higher.

And:
In addition to upgrading LaserFiche, you will need to follow these steps in order to match index card templates when importing a version 5 briefcase:

  1. Find and open the LF.INI.
  2. Under the [Options] section, type the following line: MatchTemplateLists=0
  3. Save the LF.INI file.
  4. Open the desired database using the LaserFiche Client\Standalone.
  5. Import the desired briefcase from the Import Files dialog box.

Note: The MatchTemplateLists=0 line will prevent LaserFiche from comparing list entries when determining whether two index card templates match. After importing your legacy briefcases, you may wish to turn this feature back on.

More Information

At times, it may be necessary to find the LF.INI file to perform a special type of configuration. This file can always be found in the x:\Windows or x:\WinNt directory. However, another version of this file may exist in another location. Please refer to the following list to find your LF.INI:

  • Windows 95/98/ME: Only one version of the LF.INI file exists. It can be found in the x:\Windows directory.
  • Windows NT: The LF.INI file can be found in the x:\WinNt directory and in the following path under the WinNT directory: Profiles\Current_User\Application Data\LF.
  • Windows 2000/XP: The LF.INI file can be found in the Windows directory and in the following path under the Document and Settings folder: Current_User\Application Data\LF.

Note: The letter x stands for the drive letter on which the system files were installed.
