Plus 6

Summary

How does Plus licensing work?

On systems where Plus has never been installed one can take the license provided and install normally. After the installation is complete, a 14-day grace period is provided to register the license via e-mail. During the 14-day grace period, Plus will function normally. If the user doesn't complete the registration of the product (via the registration wizard in the Start menu), then after the 14-day period has lapsed, the Client will become a read-only Viewer.

Note: As of this writing, there is a minor issue that prevents standalone versions of Plus from being installed if the license is not already registered. If you have purchased one of these licenses for a customer, please send the MAC address of the computer in question along with a copy of the license and Laserfiche Technical Support will register the product on your behalf in advance of the installation. Please note that this issue only affects the standalone version of Plus, not Executive or Notebook with a Plus plug-in.

More Information

How does the Plus licensing process affect computers that already have Plus installed, previously had Plus installed, or new computers after the initial installation?

Even after Plus is uninstalled, small traces of information are left behind to tell a new Plus installation that the plug-in has been installed here before and that the 14-day grace period is no longer available. To best resolve this, a registered version of the license must be used.

If you plan to uninstall Plus on a workstation on which it has already been installed and registered, then prior to the uninstallation of Plus, please preserve the current license in the Laserfiche client installation folder (by default, C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\LFW) of the workstation involved if a reinstallation of the plug-in is a possibility in the future.

If Plus has not been previously installed and registered (for example an upgrade from Plus 6.03 to version 6.04 or greater), then the client will turn into a Viewer immediately after the installation and the user will need to register.

If Plus has already been installed on a computer and is now being installed on a second computer, the second computer will have to be registered as well, separately. A registered license from another computer will not work.

Note: The licensing agreement for Plus 6.04 and later requires that Plus only be installed and running on one computer at a time. It may be acceptable in some situations to have the same Plus license on more than one computer (troubleshooting, a workaround for an immediate problem, etc.).

Note: You will be able to transfer the license from one computer to another computer two times. This would require registering three times, once for the original computer and twice for the other computers. Attempting to register the license a fourth time will lock down the registration for that license. If this should happen, please contact your regional manager to resolve the matter.
