Laserfiche 7

Summary

Windows XP Home Edition has built-in limitations regarding network security. This can affect Laserfiche in cases involving domain authentication.

More Information

Be aware of the following issues when using Laserfiche with Windows XP Home Edition:

Using Laserfiche on a workstation with Windows XP Home Edition:

  • The Laserfiche Client will be unable to log into network repositories using Windows authentication. Instead, use password authentication.
  • You should not use the Laserfiche Administration Console to modify Windows authentication settings.

Hosting Laserfiche Server on a computer with Windows XP Home Edition:

  • If your Laserfiche 7 Server is hosted on a computer using Windows XP Home Edition, you will not be able to use any Laserfiche features regarding Domain Authentication if it involves a network domain. This means that Clients will not be allowed to connect to the Server using a network domain. Also, you will not be able to set the Laserfiche Server 7.0 service to use a network domain account. This means that you will have to set either Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle to use password authentication or that Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle must reside on the same computer as the Laserfiche Server.

Note: You can still use local user authentication for the server computer itself.
