This article documents the major changes in Snapshot from version 5 to version 6.
- Laserfiche Snapshot can now generate grayscale and color images from a print job.
- The Laserfiche Snapshot printer can now be shared and made available to computers running Windows NT/2000/XP and Windows Server 2003. When Laserfiche Snapshot is shared to multiple
workstations, it is referred to as a network printer.
- LFAssist can now import documents created by Laserfiche Snapshot to a specific folder location or to a relative path. If it is configured to import to a specific folder location,
then
it does not matter what folder is opened when LFAssist is importing documents.
- The properties of the Laserfiche document that will be created from the file printed by Laserfiche Snapshot can now be defined after printing. These properties include the document
name, destination folder, volume, and field information. Default settings can be configured for these document properties. Additionally, the user may choose whether he/she will be prompted
for document information after printing files using Laserfiche Snapshot.
- The default field information that will be applied to all documents created by Laserfiche Snapshot supports the use of tokens. The tokens that can be specified for a
field are: Count, Date, Document Name, and Time.
- Laserfiche Snapshot can now be used in a Terminal Server environment. Installing Laserfiche Snapshot on a Windows Server that has support for Terminal Services allows you to choose
whether Laserfiche Snapshot will be a network printer or whether it will available as a local printer for each terminal workstation.
- Advanced options are available to optimize the results from a Snapshot print job. These options allow the user to account for text spacing and location information. The text spacing
option accounts for inaccurate spacing between words or characters. The location information option accounts for print jobs that produce documents containing text whose location does
not match the image from which it was generated.
