A "Cannot run 16-bit application." Error Occurs When Starting the Laserfiche Client on Windows XP Computers.

Summary

After installing the Laserfiche Client to the default path, when you try to run Laserfiche, you may receive the following error message:

    Cannot run 16-bit application.
    The file LF.exe cannot be found in C:\Progra~1\Laserf~1\LFW

Cause

Windows XP can be configured to not run 16-bit applications.

Resolution

Do not use folder names longer than 8 characters. Install the client to a folder location other than the default location, such as "C:\LF\LFW."
