A "The 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full." Error Occurs When Using Laserfiche.

Summary

MSDE contains a 2GB database size limit. If a database reaches this size limit, you may see the following message in the Event Viewer.

    Could not allocate space for object 'An_Object ' in database 'Your_Database' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full.

Cause

This error can occur when the main MSDE database reaches the 2GB size limit. This error can also occur if there is insufficient hard disk space on the disk storing the database.

Resolution

If there is insufficient hard disk space, free up or add more disk space where the database is located. If there is sufficient disk space, then you have hit the MSDE database size limitation. Please upgrade to the full version of Microsoft SQL Server.
