Indexing and Searching for Special Characters.

Laserfiche 6, Plus 6

Summary

By default, several characters are excluded from being indexed. For example, hypens (-) and slashes (/) are not indexed and thus cannot be searched for. If you want to perform searches involving these characters, edit the search index configuration and add the characters to the word delimiter list.

Workaround

Use the LaserFiche Administration Console to edit the word delimiter list.

To edit the word delimiter list:

  1. Click Start, select All Programs, select LaserFiche, and click LaserFiche Administration Console.
  2. Expand the appropriate server.
  3. Log into and expand the appropriate database.
  4. Click Indexing.
  5. From the Action menu, click Properties.
  6. Click the Word Delimiter tab.
  7. Locate and click the desired character you want included as a valid search character. Characters in white are valid search characters.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Make sure Indexing is still selected. From the Action menu, click Reindex. You should now be able to perform text searches of those characters.
