Summary

When you attempt to publish a database, you may receive the following error message:

7026: The server cannot attach a user to the database

Cause

You may be attempting to publish a database with an invalid name. Check the name for invalid characters. See the following list for examples of invalid characters:

\ / : ? < > | & +

Workaround

Remove any invalid characters, then retry publishing the database.
