Summary

When you attempt to copy a volume to a new location, the copy operation does not start and you may receive the following Windows error message on computers running Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000:

    Cannot copy : Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

Cause

Windows contains a paged pool memory resource that is used during copy processes. When copying a large file, this error can occur if there is not enough paged pool memory to perform the copy function.

Resolution

Windows NT

Because of the complexity of the issue, Microsoft will not resolve the issue for users of Windows NT 4.0.

Windows 2000

To resolve this issue, download the latest Windows 2000 Service Pack.
