An "Error Copying Optional Files Failed" Error Occurs When Publishing.

Plus 6

Summary

During the publishing process, you may receive the following error:

    Error Copying Optional Files Failed

After clicking OK to the error message, the Plus process completes successfully. You will also find a "Copying optional files failed" message in the Results step of the LaserFiche Plus wizard.

Cause

Optional files can be included with a published database. These optional files are listed in a text file. The error message appears when the files listed in the text file are incorrect or nonexistent.

Resolution

The optional files are listed in the CDOptions.txt file. By default, the text file is located in C:\Program Files\LaserFiche\LFW. Open the text file with a text editor. The file should contain the following entries:

lf.hlp
lf.cnt
lfmsg.hlp
lfmsg.cnt
Lflib32.dll

Check all of the following:

  • If the entries in your CDOptions.txt file do not match this listing, edit the file so that it does.
  • If the entries in your CDOptions.txt file match this listing, make sure that the files exist in the LFW folder. If any files are missing, locate the files from another LaserFiche workstation and copy the aforementioned files into the LFW folder.

Note: Since these files are optional, a published CD without these files should still function correctly.
