LaserFiche Server Starts Before Microsoft SQL Server has Finished Loading the Databases.

June 28, 2004 | KB: 1000620
Server (MSDE) 6, Server (MSSQL) 6

Summary

The LaserFiche for Microsoft SQL Server service may start before the corresponding SQL Server service (MSSQLSERVER or MSSQL$LASERFICHE) finishes loading. When this happens, the LaserFiche Client may be unable to connect to a database.

Workaround

LaserFiche 6.11 adds a new setting to the LFS.ini that can force the LaserFiche for Microsoft SQL Server service to wait a set amount of time before loading. The LFS.ini can be found in your Windows folder. The default location is C:\Windows. Open the LFS.ini file using a text editor and under the [System] section, you can add the following line:

Startpause = Seconds

Note: The term Seconds is the number of seconds that the LaserFiche Server will wait before loading databases. The default value is 5 seconds. You should not specify a value below the default value. If you specify a high value and still encounter issues where the Client cannot connect to a database, there may be other issues involved. Contact LaserFiche Technical Support.
