Laserfiche 6.11, Plus 6.11, Scanning 6.11

Summary

This article is a list of changes included in LaserFiche 6.11.

Stop the LaserFiche for Microsoft SQL Server service before running the server patch, then restart the service after the upgrade.

Note: LaserFiche Server 6.1 and LaserFiche Client 6.1 can be updated to version 6.11 by running the patches without new licenses. However, if you are upgrading from 6.0x to 6.11, you will need to contact your certified dealer to obtain the necessary license files.

Additional Fixes:

  • If the amount of data assigned to the first field in a document exceeded the visible area, then that field would be shown as blank. Fields that contain data now never appear to be blank.
  • Sorting list fields that contain duplicate entries would cause the LaserFiche Client to become unstable. A duplicate list field entry could be created by specifying the same entry but in a different case (e.g. My List Entry vs. my list entry). List field sorting is now case-sensitive.
  • Searches for templates that only contain a date field cause the Client to crash. The size of the search buffer string now takes into account the string generated when searching a date field.
  • A multi-page TIFF file containing more than 4096 pages could not be imported into a LaserFiche database. You may now import a multi-page TIFF file that has 46,656 pages or less.
  • The LaserFiche Server could not be set to use a port between 4000 and 4999. LaserFiche Server can now be set to use ports between 4000 and 4999.
  • The default timeout for OCR has been increased.
  • Installing LaserFiche Snapshot (version 6) would prevent new versions of an electronic document from being imported into the database. Modifying an electronic document will now either import a new version of the electronic file or prompt the user to determine what should happen.
  • Performing OCR on certain images would cause the OCR process to stop or to become unresponsive. These types of images can now be safely processed.
  • Creating linked annotations no longer leaves a memory leak.
  • Processing a large number of documents with OCR would maximize the CPU usage for that workstation. The OCR process will no longer use up a high percentage of your CPU.
  • Templates have always been constrained to a maximum of 3999 bytes. In other words, the sum for the widths of the fields assigned to a template cannot be greater than 3999 bytes. Previously, field data could not be saved for documents assigned to templates that were defined to use the maximum number of bytes. Additionally, the only manner in which the structure for such a template could be modified is field deletion.
  • In specific situations, OCRing multiple documents would return a 6522 error code. This is now resolved.
  • Clearing the Decolumnize check box in the Optical Character Recognition dialog box could create text pages that cannot be edited. The OCR process now replaces spaces with tabs, making the size of the generated text files around 30% smaller.
