A .DLL Registration Error Occurs When Installing Quick Fields on Windows Server 2003 Computers.

June 21, 2004 | KB: 1000611
Quick Fields 6.2

Summary

When you install Quick Fields on a Windows Server 2003 computer, you may receive the following error message:

The following files did not self-register and unregister C:\Program Files\Common Files\LaserFiche\Batch Processor\LFDBInput\LFDBInput.dll. The specified module could not be found.

Cause

The LFDBInput.dll file has a dependency on atl71.dll. This error occurs because of a known issue where the Quick Fields setup program is not installing the atl71.dll file.

Workaround

Obtain a copy of atl71.dll from a Windows NT/2000/XP computer on which Quick Fields has been successfully installed. Copy atl71.dll into the C:\Windows\System32 folder. Then re-run the Quick Fields installation or manually register LFDBInput.dll.

To manually register LFDBInput.dll:

  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. Type the following to register the .dll file:

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\LaserFiche\Batch Processor\LFDBInput\LFDBInput.dll"

  3. Click OK.

Note: You cannot use a version of atl71.dll that comes from a Windows 95/98 computer.
