Summary

When you attempt to install the LaserFiche Client on computers using Windows 98, you may receive the following error message:

Cannot load .dl: C:\program files\LaserFiche\LFW\LFauxel.dll 485

Cause

The Windows autoexec.bat file contains an incorrect Path variable.

Resolution

Add the correct value to the Path variable.

To edit the Path variable in the autoexec.bat file:

1. From a text editor, open the autoexec.bat file. The file can be found in the root folder of the hard disk containing the Windows installation. By default, the file should be in C:\.
2. Look for a line starting with "SET PATH=."
3. Edit the line to look similar to the following:

   SET PATH="%PATH%";C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\LASERF~1\SYSTEM;"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\"

4. Reinstall the Client.

Important: Be aware that your Path variable may contain other values not related to LaserFiche. Those values should remain assigned to the Path variable. Removing those values may impact other programs.
