Snapshot Requires that the Users Windows Group have Modify Rights on the BIPORT File.

June 14, 2004 | KB: 1000597
Snapshot 5

Summary

When using the default Windows security configuration, Snapshot only works when the user is logged in as a local or network administrator. When a non-administrator user attempts to Snapshot a document, no files are sent to the temporary folder and LFAssist will not import any images from the temporary folder.

Cause

The Windows group called "Users" has insufficient rights to the BIPORT file.

Resolution

The access rights on the BIPORT file need to be changed, in order to allow non-administrators to Snapshot files.

To change the access rights on the BIPORT file:

  1. Locate the BIPORT file located in your C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder.
  2. Right-click the file and click Properties.
  3. In the Properties dialog box, click Security.
  4. In the Group or user names section, click the Users group.
  5. In the Permissions for Users section, select the Allow checkbox for the Modify right.
  6. Click OK.
