This article details a method to change the name of either a server or a local database.

Depending on whether you want to change the name of a server or local database, perform one of the following resolutions.

To change the name of a server database:

  1. Click Start, select All Programs, select LaserFiche, and click LaserFiche Administration Console.
  2. Expand the corresponding server tree and click the database you want to rename.
  3. Detach the database by selecting Detach from the Action menu.
  4. Click the server again.
  5. Re-attach the database by selecting Attach Database from the Action menu.
  6. In the Attach Database dialog box, type in the desired new name.

To change the name of a local database:

  1. Follow steps 1-3 from the previous workaround to detach the local database.
  2. Locate and rename the SQL data files. For information on where to locate your database files, click the following article:

  3. Re-attach the renamed database through the LaserFiche Client:
    1. Start the LaserFiche Client.
    2. Click New.
    3. Select Local Database from the drop-down list and click OK.
    4. Select Attach from the drop-down list and click OK.
    5. Type in the new database name and the corresponding path.

    Note: The local database name must match the name of the renamed MDF file.
