List Field Items With Accented Latin Characters Sort Separately.

June 2, 2004 | KB: 1000578
Laserfiche 6.11, Plus 6.11

Summary

Items containing accented Latin characters in list fields are sorted separately from items containing only non-accented Latin characters.

Cause

When sorting list field items, LaserFiche separately takes into account list field items that contain accented Latin characters. These items are sorted separately and will appear before or after "Z" depending on whether you are sorting by ascending or descending characters

Workaround

The following instructions provide the means to sort list field items that were not sorted properly by the automatic sort.

To sort list field items containing accented characters:

  1. Open the Options toolbox by selecting Options from the Tools menu.
  2. Open the Index Templates dialog box by double-clicking Template.
  3. Select the index card template containing the list field that you would like to sort.
  4. Open the Define Index Card dialog box by clicking Modify.
  5. Select the desired list field. An arrow should appear to the left of the desired field.
  6. Click Edit List.
  7. Use the automated sorting tools to sort the list field in ascending or descending order.
  8. Move each item containing the accented Latin characters to the desired position in the list. This can be performed by selecting the line containing the desired item, cutting that line (CTRL + X), and then pasting it in the desired location (CTRL + V).
