The Correct Parent Folder Can Now be Viewed After Following a Folder Shortcut

May 10, 2004 | KB: 1000560
WebLink 6

Summary

Previously, clicking the Open Parent Folder link from a folder you reached through a shortcut would open up the parent folder containing the shortcut. This has been changed so that clicking the Open Parent Folder link from a folder you reached through a shortcut will open up the parent folder of the current folder.

More Information

For example, see the following WebLink directory structure:

Root
L Folder A
L Folder A1
L Folder B
L Shortcut to Folder A

Access Folder A by using the Shortcut to Folder A link in the Folder B folder. In previous versions, clicking the Open Parent Folder link would take you to Folder B (the shortcut's parent folder).

WebLink 6.15 changes this behavior. Following the previous example, clicking the Open Parent Folder link will take you to the Root folder.

Note: The behavior before WebLink 6.15 was implemented to prevent security errors. Be aware that if you do not have the necessary access rights to view a parent folder, you may receive the following error message: Error '80041ca4' /browser.inc, line 36. In addition, Internet Explorer will pop up the error message: "You do not have the rights to view this document."

Note: Be aware that due to the new behavior, in certain situations, there may be no way to return to a previous folder without closing your browser instance and starting a new instance.
