Summary
Licenses issued for LaserFiche Server updates will no longer specify the number of full-featured or retrieval users that have been licensed to a particular installation. Although user licensing is not specified in the license file, updating your LaserFiche Server to the latest version will not affect the licensed number of full-featured and retrieval licenses.
Note: This article only pertains to updated license files. New customers will still receive a license file listing the licensed number of full-featured users and retrieval users.

The LaserFiche Server (version 6.0x) can be upgraded to version 6.1x in two different ways. You can either update an existing installation or you can install a new LaserFiche Server installation.
Note: If you plan on updating an existing installation of the LaserFiche Server (version 6.1), then the installation will not prompt for a license file. On the other hand, if you plan to install a new LaserFiche Server installation, then you can use your LaserFiche Server (version 6.1) license when the installation prompts for a license file.
