Laserfiche Web Access and WebLink can display a Laserfiche document when a user clicks on a link. You can use this in combination with Workflow Suite to make it easy to bring up documents that have been
routed by Workflow Suite.
You can configure Workflow Suite's e-mail notification so that the e-mail will contain a link that will open the document directly using either Web Access or WebLink.
To configure Workflow Suite's e-mail notification
- From Web Access or WebLink, browse to and open a document.
- Copy the link from the URL.
- Open up the desired rule using Work Distribution Manager.
- From the View menu, click Options.
- In the Options dialog box, click the E-mail tab.
- Click the button corresponding to the desired e-mail notification to be configured.
- Under the notification message option, paste the link copied in step 2.
- Look for a section of the URL that is similar to the following:
- Web Access 7: docview.asp?id=25&dbid=0
- WebLink 7: docview.aspx?id=25
- WebLink 6: index.asp?DocumentID=25&dbid=0
- Select the number that appears after the equal sign. This number is the ID of the document that was opened from Laserfiche Web Access or WebLink. In the above example, this number is 25.
- Click the Tokens (>) button and then select the Folder/Document ID option. The modified section of the URL should now look similar to the following:
- Web Access 7: docview.asp?id=%id%&dbid=0
- WebLink 7: docview.aspx?id=%id%
- WebLink 6: index.asp?DocumentID=%id%&dbid=0
- Click OK to finish configuring the e-mail notification. Users will now receive a URL to the appropriate document whenever this type of e-mail notification is sent.
Note: By default, Laserfiche WebLink 7 is not configured to use a repository configuration. As a result, it does not need to use the dbid parameter. For more information, please refer to the Laserfiche WebLink article referenced in the Related Links section below.
