June 1, 2004 | KB: 1000465
Server (MSDE) 6.1, Server (MSSQL) 6.1

Summary

In rare instances, the LaserFiche Server can prevent Windows from shutting down or the current Windows user from logging off. Perform the workaround or the resolution.

Workaround

Manually shut down the LaserFiche for Microsoft SQL Server service. After doing so, you may then safely shut down your computer or log off of Windows.

To stop the LaserFiche for Microsoft SQL Server service:

  1. Click Start, then Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools.
  3. In the Administrative Tools, double-click Services.
  4. In the Services dialog box, scroll down and click the LaserFiche for Microsoft SQL Server Service.
  5. From the Action menu, click Stop.

Resolution

Set the LaserFiche for Microsoft SQL Server service to log on as a specific user account rather than log on as the Local System account.

To change the account used by the service to log on:

  1. Perform steps 1-4 from the workaround.
  2. From the Action menu, click Properties.
  3. Click on the Log On tab.
  4. Enable the This account radio button.
  5. Type in the desired user account and the corresponding password information.
  6. Click OK
  7. Click OK to the message that appears.
  8. From the Action menu, click Restart.
