Summary

When you scan, you may receive the following error message:

6516: Error loading library

Cause

There are two common causes for this scanning error and they are listed as follows:

1. There is no scanning interface installed. See Resolution 1.
2. LaserFiche is calling the incorrect scan engine. See Resolution 2.

Resolution 1

There is no LaserFiche scanning interface installed, or the installation is corrupted. Reinstall the scanning interface.

To install a scanning interface:

1. Go to the LaserFiche Scanning installation located in your LaserFiche Client installation folder. By default, the folder can be found at C:\Program Files\LaserFiche\LFW\Scanning.
2. Double-click on Setup.exe to begin the Scanning installation.
3. Follow the on-screen directions to install the scanning interface of your choice.

Resolution 2

The LaserFiche Client is calling the incorrect scan engine due to an incorrect LF.ini setting.

To check which scan engine executable is called by the LaserFiche Client:

1. From a text editor, open the LF.ini file. See the More Information section for information on the location of the LF.ini files for your operating system.
2. Under the [Options] section, look for a line starting with "ScanEngine = ".
   • For ScanConnect, the line should look like:

     ScanEngine = LFWISISN.exe

   • For Kofax, the line should look like:

     ScanEngine = LFKOFAX.exe

   • For TWAIN, the line should look like:

     ScanEngine = LFTWAIN.exe

   • For Universal Capture, the line should look like:

     ScanEngine = LFUNVCPT.dll
