Attaching Volumes Containing Invalid Shortcuts Can Cause Database Corruption.

March 12, 2004 | KB: 100012
Laserfiche 6, Plus 6

Summary

Immediately exporting a volume or a briefcase containing recently deleted documents to which shortcuts had been created can cause the export process to produce a corrupted volume or briefcase. If a corrupted volume or briefcase is introduced into a database, then the entire database can become corrupted.

Resolution

Install LaserFiche Desktop, Executive, Intuition, MinuteFile, Notebook, Personal Edition, or Plus version 6.04.

Network Installations: Additionally, install LaserFiche Server version 6.04.

Note: If you do not wish to upgrade, please see the workaround.

Workaround

This issue can be avoided by making sure that all shortcuts pointing to deleted documents have been deleted before exporting a volume or briefcase.

More Information

A corrupted volume occurs when multiple documents to which shortcuts had been created are deleted immediately before exporting the volume on which they are stored. Once a corrupted volume has been created, it should not be imported into a LaserFiche database. If you suspect that you have imported a corrupted volume into your LaserFiche database, you should immediately contact your certified LaserFiche dealer.
